About the Tour

Jefferson City is one of only three cities that have had the honor of hosting the Tour of Missouri all three years the race has been in existence. The inaugural Tour of Missouri, in 2007, provided the state with an incredible $26.2 million economic impact statewide. The 2008 event increased to an impressive $30 million. In 2008, the race finish brought crowds of about 42,000. Race organizers estimate that Jefferson City received an economic impact of $5.5 million. This event attracts viewers, both online and in person, from all over the world.

The 2009 Tour of Missouri will again be a seven day race, finishing the fourth leg of the race in Jefferson City. Being host of the finish line for Thursday’s stage is an incredible opportunity for Jefferson City residents and visitors to partake in a very exciting event. Spectators will see the cyclists give it their all as they barrel toward the finish line. Leading up to the finish, the Tour of Missouri announcers will provide commentary on the race as it approaches Jefferson City and spectators will be able to watch the riders on a big screen television that will provide live footage of the race.
