About the Tour

The inaugural Tour of Missouri took place last year and provided the state with an incredible $26.2 million economic impact statewide. Jefferson City had the privilege of hosting two pieces of the race in 2007 as it passed through downtown on the way to Columbia and then started the next day in front of the capitol. Over 5,000 people traveled from outside of the community to see this exciting event in Jefferson City; and the city realized an economic impact of over $500,000.

The 2008 Tour of Missouri has expanded to a seven day race, finishing the fifth leg of the race in Jefferson City. Being host of the finish line for Friday’s stage is an incredible opportunity for Jefferson City residents and visitors to partake in a very exciting event. Spectators will see the cyclists give it their all as they barrel toward the finish line. Leading up to the finish, the Tour of Missouri announcers will commentate the race as it approaches Jefferson City and spectators will be able to watch the riders on a big screen television that will provide live footage of the race.
