An exciting race finish in Jefferson City
• 120 athletes from over 20 countries
• Athletes ride approximately 600 miles over the week
• Start in St. Joseph on September 8 and end in St. Louis on September 14
• Largest professional sporting event Missouri has ever hosted
• The 2007 Tour of Missouri attracted over 360,000 spectators and received an estimated economic impact of $26.2 million.
• An estimated 5,180 people attended the Tour of Missouri in Jefferson City last year and the city realized an economic impact of more than $500,000.
The Tour of Missouri is patterned after the famous Tour de France of point-to-point, or stage racing. The Tour has joined the elite ranks of top-international domestic cycling of the Tour of California and Tour de Georgia. The race is much more than a cycling race, however, and brings the pageantry of the race along with a rolling festival to each host start and finish city during the week-long event.

A full line up of events is planned to celebrate the 2008 Tour of Missouri. Thursday evening and Friday afternoon and evening will include activities such as local celebrity bike races, Capital City Twilight Criterium, kids activity area and health and wellness expo. Check back for more detailed information as the event approaches!
